There are circumstances in which the electrical properties determine which kind of flooring should be installed. There is generally a confusion regarding conductive and antistatic floors. To clear things up we might say that an antistatic flooring is that one that does not produce electrostatic charges, while a conductive flooring is the one that, apart from not producing electrostatic charges, absorbs the environmental discharges and the ones originated in different equipments and appliances in the premises.
The correct use of a conductive flooring is vital due to their possibility of saving lives, avoid explosions and severe damages to production equipment and computing centers.

In sanitary areas a distinction must be made: not all the floorings perform alike. In the case of linoleum or PVC floorings it is imperative to weld the rolls to avoid the opening of the joints, because of the low dimensional stability of these floorings. In the case of rubber floorings there is no such a problem, and the possibility of joint sealing remains only as a matter of obtaining a completely sterile environment.
